with gold around $900...
Many retailers are finding that as the price of gold has risen so dramatically, they are faced with a serious merchandising void for good quality gold jewelry in the $250 to $500 retail range. Basically, their choices are to lower their quality standards and bring in thinner, lighter weight gold items or to sacrifice margin in order to hit a price point. Neither option is very acceptable.
What those same retailers are now doing is selecting sterling items from our newer collections that are a little heavier and a little more fashion forward.

merchandising
Because of the high quality of Dobbs product, particularly those styles that combine sterling with 14kt or 18kt gold, many customers will merchandise the 2-tone styles right in their all gold case. You will find the styles hold their own quality-wise while offering your customer "gold" but at a lesser price point. Not only does this give your sterling extra credibility, it also gives you more flexibility in being able to offer a sterling/gold alternative to your customer who wants gold but prefers not to pay as much as perhaps she used to.
acid bath
Much of our sterling goes through an acid bath before it is shipped to you. The advantage of this is that the cyanide eats the copper alloy from the surface of the sterling. Since it is the copper in sterling that attracts the tarnishing process, not having it in the surface dramatically retards the tarnishing process. This means less cleaning for you and for your customer.
do you want french fries?
Don't forget your add-on sale. We have heard time and again that people like giving Dobbs jewelry as a gift because it appears to be more expensive than it is. Use this to your advantage by asking your customer if she wants a bracelet to go with the necklace, or the earring to go with the bracelet. We think you will be encouraged by the response!
